WK 2026 - Eerste keer eindigen alle vier wedstrijden van een speeldag op een gelijkspel

Eén keer eerder, op 15 juni 1958 in Zweden, waren er ook vier gelijke spelen op een wedstrijddag van een WK, maar die dag werden er acht wedstrijden gespeeld. West-Duitsland - Noord-Ierland (2-2), Paraguay-Joegoslavië (3-3), Zweden - Wales (0-0) en Engeland-Oostenrijk (2-2) waren de vier gelijke spelen. In Tsjechoslowakije - Argentinië (6-1), Frankrijk - Schotland (2-1), Hongarije - Mexico (4-0) en Brazilië - Sovjet-Unie (2-0) was er wel een winnaar.

WK 2026 - Visum van Iraniër Mehdi Torabi is al verlopen

Het visum van de Iraanse aanvaller Mehdi Torabi, die maandag negentig minuten op de bank bleef bij het 2-2 gelijkspel tegen Nieuw-Zeeland, is al verlopen. Dat meldt het Iraanse persagentschap Irna. De federatie wil de speler zo snel mogelijk aan een nieuw visum helpen, maar het is vooralsnog niet zeker of de 31-jarige spits van Tractor voor de wedstrijden tegen België (zondag in Inglewood) en Egypte (26 juni in Seattle) het land in zal kunnen.
