Jupiler Pro League - AA Gent laat Hélio Varela naar Israëlische Maccabi Tel Aviv gaan

"Ik ben erg blij om bij deze grote club te komen. Dit is een grote stap en ik ben trots om die te nemen. Ik kan niet wachten om het gele truitje aan te trekken en voor onze supporters te spelen", zegt Varela op de clubwebsite van Maccabi.

Varela kwam tijdens de zomermercato van 2024 over van het Portugese Portimonense. Bij de Buffalo's scoorde de 23-jarige flankaanvaller twee doelpunten in achttien wedstrijden. Ook dit seizoen stond de Kaapverdiër al tweemaal in de basis, tegen Sint-Truiden en La Louvière, en mocht hij invallen tegen landskampioen Union.
