Global Champions Tour krijgt er manche in Rabat bij

Rabat wordt de laatste van vijftien normale manches. Daarna volgen nog de Finals in het Saoedische Riyadh (30 oktober-1 november) en de Play-offs in het Tsjechische Praag (20-23 november).

Na tien manches gaat de Belgische kampioen Gilles Thomas met 241 punten ruim aan de leiding. De volgende manche vindt van 11 tot 14 september in het Duitse Riesenbeck plaats.

Vuelta - Israël-Premier Tech is niet van plan zich terug te trekken

Israël-Premier Tech heeft geen plannen om zijn renners terug te trekken uit de Ronde van Spanje. De wielerploeg reageerde woensdagavond met een statement op X op stemmen vanuit de organisatie die na het pro-Palestijnse protest in de elfde etappe opperden dat het team misschien best de race zou verlaten.

WK 2026 - Prijzen van tickets fluctueren op basis van vraag

De prijzen voor kaartjes voor het WK voetbal van 2026 in de Verenigde Staten, Canada en Mexico zullen fluctueren op basis van de vraag. Dat maakte wereldvoetbalbond FIFA woensdag bekend. Aanvankelijk zijn de prijzen voor een ticket voor de groepswedstrijden 60 dollar (51,4 euro). Een kaartje voor de finale kost vooralsnog 6.710 dollar (ruim 5.700 euro). De eerste fase van de kaartverkoop begint op 10 september.

EK basket - Debutant Loïc Schwartz: "Heb geprobeerd maximaal te genieten"

Op zijn 32e stond Loïc Schwartz voor het eerst op een EK basket met de Belgian Lions. Het werd een ervaring waarvan de speler van het Franse Saint-Quentin "geprobeerd heeft maximaal te genieten". Tegelijk heeft hij ook lessen geleerd.

Vuelta - UCI reageert met statement op protestacties: "Wielersport brengt net mensen samen"

De internationale wielerfederatie UCI heeft woensdagavond in een statement gereageerd op de pro-Palestijnse protesten die momenteel de Ronde van Spanje teisteren. De UCI benadrukt daarin het politiek-neutrale karakter van sport, waarvoor ze zich verder wil blijven inzetten. "Wielrennen mag niet gebruikt worden als instrument voor bestraffing", klinkt het.

Les U19 s'imposent sur le fil en préparation face à l'Autriche

Les jeunes belges de moins de 19 ans ont battu de justesse l'Autriche 2-1 mercredi en fin d'après-midi dans l'antre du Bangor City Stadium, au pays de Galles. Ce match de préparation se déroulait en vue des qualifications pour l'Euro 2026 de football qui auront lieu en novembre.
