Jupiler Pro League - AA Gent rondt komst van jonge doelman Kjell Peersman af

Peersman speelde in de jeugd van KVC Westerlo en PSV. In Eindhoven groeide hij uit tot een vaste waarde bij Jong PSV in de Keuken Kampioen Divisie. Afgelopen seizoen werd de doelman, jeugdinternational bij verschillende leeftijdscategorieën, uitgeleend aan Lierse in de Challenger Pro League. Hij stond dit jaar ook nog tussen de palen van de Belgische beloften. Hij is de zoon van ex-doelman Tristan Peersman, die onder meer voor RSC Anderlecht uitkwam.

Peersman komt naar Gent "met de ambitie om zich volwaardig te ontwikkelen in het eerste elftal", aldus de club. Tegelijk zal hij ook inzetbaar zijn voor Jong AA Gent, "zodat hij kan blijven groeien door matchminuten te maken". Vorig seizoen was Davy Roef eerste doelman bij de Buffalo's, met Tom Vandenberghe als vervanger aan het einde van het seizoen toen Roef met een handbreuk out was.

"Ik heb voor KAA Gent gekozen omdat mijn ambitie strookt met die van de club. Ik hoop om hier in de toekomst een prijs te kunnen winnen, daar wil ik alles voor doen", zegt Peersman in een mededeling.

Gele trui Tadej Pogacar (UAE Emirates-XRG) staat op de vooravond van zijn erg waarschijnlijke vierde eindzege in de Ronde van Frankrijk. De Sloveen overleefde de lastige heuvelrit van zaterdag probleemloos. Na afloop wilde hij nog niet gezegd hebben of hij in de vernieuwde slotrit in Parijs voor een vijfde ritzege zal gaan.
