Giro - Lidl-Trek rekent op sprintbom Jonathan Milan en klassementsman Derek Gee-West

Voor zijn sprinttrein kan de 25-jarige Milan rekenen op de steun van landgenoten Matteo Sobrero en Simone Consonni en de Duitsers Maximilian Walscheid en Tim Torn Teutenberg.

De Canadese kampioen Derek Gee-West mikt op een goed eindklassement. Hij viel vorig jaar, als lid van Israel-Premier Tech, als vierde maar net naast het podium.

De Italiaan Giulio Ciccone pakte al drie ritten in de ronde van zijn land (in 2016, 2019 en 2022) en de bergtui (in 2019). De Eritreeër Amanuel Ghebreigzabhier vervolledigt de selectie.

De 109e editie van de Giro start vrijdag (8 mei) in Bulgarije en eindigt drie weken later in de Italiaanse hoofdstad Rome.

Alpecin-Premier Tech trekt onder meer met zijn Australische sprinter Kaden Groves en de Belgen Jonas Geens en Edward Planckaert naar de komende Ronde van Italië. Dat maakte de Belgische WorldTour-ploeg maandag bekend.
