Coupe du monde d'escrime - Eliminée au premier tour du tableau préliminaire, Jolien Corteyn est 114e au sabre à Alger

Après avoir passé le cap des poules qualificatives avec 2 victoires et trois défaites, Jolien Corteyn, 123e mondiale au classement de la fédération internationale, a été éliminée au premier tour du tableau préliminaire (128) par la Roumaine de 18 ans, Anastasia Fusea (FIE 178) 15 touches à 12.

Seule Belge présente en Algérie, Jolien Corteyn, 24 ans, termine 114e sur 164 sabreuses engagées.

Belgen in het buitenland - Paul Put blijft langer bondscoach van Oeganda

Paul Put gaat langer door als bondscoach van Oeganda. De 69-jarige Antwerpenaar zette zijn handtekening onder een contract tot 2028. Dat maakte de Oegandese voetbalbond (FUFA) bekend op zijn website. Put is sinds november 2023 aan de slag in het Oost-Afrikaanse land.

EK veldrijden - Barbora Bukovska pakt Europese titel bij de meisjes junioren, Zita Peeters eindigt als 16e

Barbora Bukovska heeft zich zaterdag de beste getoond bij de meisjes junioren op het EK veldrijden in Middelkerke. De zeventienjarige Tsjechische haalde het in de eerste wedstrijd van de dag voor de Nederlandse Nynke Jochems en de Italiaanse Nicole Azzetti. Zita Peeters nam als enige Belgische deel en eindigde op de zestiende plaats.
