Corné Lepoeter krijgt plaats in ISU-bestuur

De 51-jarige Lepoeter maakte tien jaar deel uit van de KBSF, waarvan acht jaar als voorzitter. Onder zijn bestuur nam België deel aan drie Olympische Spelen. "Ik ben ongelofelijk vereerd om met zo veel stemmen het vertrouwen te hebben gekregen voor deze positie", zei Lepoeter in een eerste reactie bij zijn management.

Lepoeter stelde enkele pijlers voorop tijdens zijn campagne, zoals de focus op duurzame en financieel haalbare schaatsinfrastructuur, ook in kleine schaatslanden, en goed bestuur. Lepoeter is salesmanager van beroep en woont in Kasterlee in de Kempen.

Daarnaast werd Wim De Deyne gekozen tot voorzitter van de technische commissie shorttrack. Zijn Duitse tegenstander had zich voor de verkiezing teruggetrokken. De Deyne maakte al deel uit van de technische commissie.

De Muur Classic (1.1), sinds 2023 de opvolger van de Stadsprijs van Geraardsbergen, krijgt zondag met Alpecin-Premier Tech, Lotto-Intermarché, Soudal Quick-Step en XDS Astana vier WorldTeams aan de start. De organisatie gaat op zoek naar een opvolger van de Noor Jonas Abrahamsen, die vorig jaar won in de stad van de drie M'en: de Mattentaarten, het oudste Manneken Pis van België en de iconische Muur.

Ronde van de Pyreneeën - Martina Alzini sprint naar zege in openingsrit

Martina Alzini (Cofidis Women Team) heeft vrijdag de eerste rit in de Ronde van de Pyreneeën (2.Pro) gewonnen. Na 118,8 kilometer tussen Saint-Jean-de-Luz en Mourenx was de Italiaanse in een massasprint sneller dan haar landgenote Federica Venturelli (UAE Team ADQ) en de Française Marie Le Net (FDJ United - SUEZ).
