Where better to bet on Belgium's top-flight football, the Jupiler Pro League, than with Belgium's own Starsport? That's why we're giving you all the information you need, from the pre-match markets and live betting to the key things to watch for before making an informed choice. By laying out every major bet type for you, you'll get the most out of this long, 34-matchday season.
Betting on the Jupiler Pro League follows four simple steps. To start, you pick a match. Most weekends have several fixtures on the schedule. Next, you select a market for that match, such as outright winner, game total, or handicap.
Third, you check the Jupiler Pro League odds next to your selections. That number shows how much you get back relative to your stake if you're right. The higher the odds, the smaller the estimated chance. Finally, once you're happy with your selection and the odds, you confirm your stake, and submit the betting slip
The Jupiler Pro League lends itself to a wide variety of bets. With eighteen clubs competing against each other, putting together Jupiler Pro League predictions involves a lot more than just betting markets on the match winner.
The first bet worth highlighting is still the match result, or 1X2. You bet on a home win, a draw, or an away win. In a standings table where every point counts, a draw or a surprise result carries extra weight. This applies just as much to the title race as it does to the relegation battle in the Jupiler Pro League.
The over/under market is a bet where the bookmaker sets a line, 2.5 goals, for example. You then bet on whether the combined number of goals from both teams finishes above or below that line. It's not about who wins, but purely about how productive the match is. That keeps a game exciting even once the result itself is already decided.
You can bet on both the home side and the visitors scoring at least once, regardless of who ends up winning. This market is popular for physical, attacking matchups where both sides create chances. The same goes for a clash between a top club and an underdog, where it offers an interesting alternative to a straight bet on the match result.
With a handicap bet, you give one team a virtual goal advantage or disadvantage, which levels out the gap between a favourite and a weaker side. If you back a top club with a -1.5 handicap, that team needs to win by at least a two-goal margin for the bet to pay off.
There are also long-term bets, where you're betting on an outcome you won't know until all 34 matchdays are done. Think of the champion, but also a top-four finish for European football or direct relegation. There are even markets built around individual players, such as the Jupiler Pro League's top scorer or the first goalscorer.
A club's position in the standings doesn't tell you everything you need to know for the next matchday. Form, player availability and venue all shift from week to week.
Recent results often say more about where a team currently stands than the position they've built up over the season. That carries extra weight in a standings table without play-offs, where mid-table teams can be bunched closely together. A team in good form can catch out an opponent that looks stronger on paper.
Injuries and suspensions change a team's actual strength on any given matchday, regardless of where they sit in the standings. Clubs also competing in Europe often have to perform twice in one week, and you'll regularly see plenty of player rotation as a result. The eleven that actually takes the field can end up looking quite different from what the standings would suggest.
Home and away form also deserves attention on its own, separate from the overall standings. Some teams, backed by their home crowd, clearly perform better at home than on the road, and that gap stands out even more in a straight competition with no play-off correction. Anyone who understands that distinction gets a fuller picture than someone who only looks at the final table.
Betting on the Jupiler Pro League doesn't stop at kick-off. With live betting, the odds adjust continuously as the match unfolds. A goal, a red card, or a shift in momentum all move the numbers instantly. That lets you react to what's actually happening on the pitch, rather than relying on pre-match analysis and expectations that might not pan out.
A match can turn completely on its head within a few minutes, especially in the Jupiler Pro League, where things can get intense in matchups between sides of a similar level. Live betting is built exactly for moments like that.
Jupiler Pro League betting is especially appealing this season, since the title race is being decided directly again for the first time in years, without play-offs reshuffling the standings afterwards. That means every point counts from matchday one, both at the top and the bottom of the table.
The European qualification spots also stay up for grabs well into the season, which keeps putting together Jupiler Pro League predictions interesting week after week. Traditionally strong clubs like Anderlecht and Club Brugge remain fixed reference points that fans and bettors keep an eye on. Not for blind bets throughout the season, but as a benchmark for the level other teams are measured against.
The Jupiler Pro League has 18 clubs this season. Each club plays every other side twice, once at home and once away, adding up to 34 matchdays in total. That's an expansion from previous years, when the league ran with 16 clubs. With 18 clubs and 34 matchdays, this season offers a longer, broader betting lineup than before.
From this season onward, the final standings after 34 matchdays directly decide the champion, with no play-offs involved. Previously, the league split after the regular matchdays into Championship, Europe and Relegation play-offs, with points halved as an added complication. That setup disappeared after 17 seasons, with the clubs opting for a classic format with a clear title race running across the whole season. For betting strategy, this means the table from matchday 1 already counts toward the title, rather than restarting in a play-off round.
RSC Anderlecht is the record champion of the Jupiler Pro League with 34 national titles. Club Brugge follows at a considerable distance as the club with the second-most titles. Anderlecht built up that total of 34 titles since their first championship in 1947, including stretches where they dominated for years on end. This historical dominance says nothing about this season's title race, but it does explain why Anderlecht is often factored in as a traditional top club in long-term bets.
The top four clubs in the final standings qualify for European football. Those spots are split across the Champions League, the Europa League and the Conference League, depending on the exact final position. This follows from the new league format, where the ranking after 34 matchdays also determines the European qualification spots. For bets on European qualification, it pays to look beyond just the title race and consider the whole upper half of the table across the season.
Betting on the Jupiler Pro League is legally permitted in Belgium from age 21. This age limit applies to all regulated real-money betting in the country, not just football. It stems from the Gaming Commission's regulations and is checked when you register on the platform. It's a fixed, legally mandatory threshold at every licensed Belgian operator, not a choice made by any one specific site.
Responsible betting starts with setting a limit to what you can afford to lose, and sticking to it regardless of the result. Licensed operators offer concrete tools for this, such as deposit limits, loss limits and temporary self-exclusion. These tools fall under the Gaming Commission's oversight and must be made available at every licensed Belgian operator. Betting should stay a form of entertainment alongside the match, not a way to chase losses or generate income.
No, you don't need to know the Jupiler Pro League inside out to place a bet. For markets like the match result or both teams to score, it's enough to have a good read on the two teams in that particular match. That ties in with the practical points covered in this guide, including team form, injuries, and home or away status, which you can look up for each match without following the entire league. Start with what you already know about the two teams in question, and build on that knowledge gradually as you follow more matches.
